The film Sunrise, Sunset shows the life of Chinese storytellers, professional performers who earn a living by telling stories in the most intriguing ways. The film focuses on a group of storytellers who travel around like Gypsies across Northern China. Middle-aged storyteller Gu Yu (Wei Zi) and his partner Kui Hua (Sun Yifei), a young girl, wander around to perform in front of different groups of audience. One day a young man Xia Zhi volunteers to join them, but they do not know that Xia has just revenged the death of his fiancee by setting fire on a well drilling site... With the touching story, the aesthetic frames, and the scenic views, the film won a special award at the 2005 Montreal World Film Festival for its " exceptional contribution to the cinematographic art".
