Tock, the hero of The Little Comedian, may only be 12 years old, but his life is already filled with big problems: Named after a famous comedian, Tock is an unfunny boy in a family that’s been in comedy for generations. To make matters worse, his family realizes that his younger sister has far more comic talent, and he falls in love with his beautiful dermatologist (Paula Taylor), who is twice his age, when she becomes the first person who thinks he’s funny. A bittersweet coming-of-age comedy, The Little Comedian is an innocent, charming look at the little-known world of Thai comedy performers. A mix of stand-up comedy and skits, café comics like Tock’s family rely on perfect comic timing to be able to carry on the same jokes for generation. With multiple generations of family legacy weighting down on him, will Tock be able to find his comedic groove?
