Hasmatullah (Paresh Rawal) is a mechanic. To his repair shop comes an old Ford engine. Unknown to him, this is the same one that carried Mahatma Gandhi's ashes to Sangam. He gets down to task, but before he could complete, a bomb blast rips apart the town. Since many Muslims get killed in the blast, 2 Muslim leaders, Mohammad Kasuri (Om Puri) and Maulana Qureshi (Pavan Malhotra) declare a boycott: Nobody in the town is allowed to work.Will Hasmatullah boycott work? Or will he take the road to Sangam?
