Hi, Michael here. I directed TEKKON. Thanks so much for your interest in our movie. There won't be English subtitles on the domestic (Japanese) DVD release of TEKKON. There are a couple reasons for this.Mainly, international DVD releases will be forthcoming shortly with subtitled and dubbed versions. Actually there's not much delay at all between Japanese and international DVD releases, as far as I know, and I don't think a couple of months' wait will hurt anyone. Have to give the movie a chance to play in theaters outside Japan first, after all.The English subtitles on the Japanese DVD of MINDGAME were actually a mistake - subtitles rushed for a festival and then inadvertantly included on the domestic DVD, to our great regret. I can't tell you how distressing it was to find MINDGAME, in its entirety, subtitled no less, on Youtube shortly after it was in the Japanese shops. Net piracy is a separate issue of course, but having subtitles on there effectively torpedoed international distribution for us.I'm in New York now for the North American premiere of TEKKONKINKREET at MoMA. For those interested, there's some more TEKKON info. at:www.pelleas.net/aniTOP/index.php?title=title_44&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
