This film is a Crazy favorite. When a man is murdered in the 'cave of terror' at an amusement park, Science reporter Kirioka (Koji Tsuruta) begins an independent investigation of the crime. Reluctantly, Detectives Kobayashi (Akihiko Hirata) and Onosaki (Yoshio Tsuchiya) allow Kirioka to participate in the official inquiry, because they need his scientific expertise on this unusual case. Meanwhile, guilty friends of the murdered man begin to fear that an old wartime crime has come back to haunt them, because they start receiving messages and mementos from a long-dead comrade in arms.A few years before Captain Kirk first said, "Beam me up, Scotty," the Telegian was scaring audiences with the notion that an enemy could teleport himself to your location and bump you off. It was a great story, handled well by director Fukuda, who trained under Inagaki at Toho. The color, sound and special effects were tops in their day, and the cast is wonderful by the standards of any era. Koji Tsuruta, the box office heart-throb of the 50s, had not yet made the transition to ninkyo icon in Yakuza films, and Hirata, Tsuchiya and Nakamura were veterans of monster movies and sci-fi, as well as accomplished "serious" actors.Just check out the screen shots:ESS enabled rip.Enjoy!
