What begins as a dreamlike war movie with Dances With Wolves undertones set in ancient China turns into sexual psychodrama as a reluctant warrior (Joe Odagiri) enters a forcible love affair with a woman (Maggie Q) from a cursed nomadic tribe. The movie, from the novel by Yasushi Inoue, effectively balances the epic fight scenes of its first act with the disturbing and claustrophobic relationship in the second, yet the glacial pace of the storyline hinders our understanding of the warrior, which doesn’t create sympathy for the twisted affair. Better played is the bizarre third act where anthropomorphized wolves and a natural disaster make for some striking cinema.
Te la muevo a China, que total la duración de un festival no es muy significativa (muchas veces con las prisas llevan versiones que luego se remontan... por ejemplo, Nymph). Si aparece algo, pues ya veremos. Gracias Spin .
