Noiseman Sound InsectLike all six episodes of FLCL compressed into one fifteen minute short, with an art style that's been described as "Tim Burton does Dr. Seuss".An experiment by Dr. Franken goes horribly awry, and his cute companion is turned into the rampaging monster Noiseman. As the monster destroys the lab, Dr. Franken accidentally falls into a machine which separates him into an ectoplasmic balloon-creature and a crystalline essence. On that day, the music died.Noiseman soon takes over the town --- which is a blend of Gaudi, Dr. Seuss and the mining town in Laputa, and uses the machine to separate the citizenry. The balloon creatures are hunted by giant flying vacuum cleaners. But there is a resistance to Noiseman's cacophonic rule. Tobio, a vacuume-cleaner pilot is struck in the face by a thrown fruit. The juice of the fruit gets in his mouth, and it awakens him from his Noiseman-induced stupor. He awakens his friend Reina, but is then caught by Noiseman. Reina rescues Tobio's crystal, and the chase is on....The soundtrack is yet more proof that Yoko Kanno is a twisted musical genius. Worth watching for the song that plays over the closing credits alone. This was made in 1997, which makes the smooth integration between the CGI and the cel animation all the more impressive. It was, apparently, only available as a special offer from the Lawsons convenience store chain. This film was directed by Koji Morimoto, who directed the first episode of _Memories_ and also directed the "Beyond" segment of _The Animatrix_
