Pues sí, un solo cd. Ya he editado la ficha, no me acordé de cambiar CD1 por el título. Ahora ya está bien.

In 1958 Imamura directed his first film, but it was not until Hogs and Battleships that he made a film that exhibited his distinctive take on life. This view is encapsulated in the director's oft-quoted statement "I am interested in the relationship of the lower part of the human body and the lower part of the social structure on which the reality of daily Japanese life obstinately supports itself." This principle is on display in Hogs and Battleships, which focuses on the efforts of mobsters and other low-lifes to eke out a living on the periphery of a US navy base. In particular, Imamura depicts the struggles of his female characters, who, in contrast to the noble suffering exhibited by the heroines in the films of Mikio Naruse and Kenji Mizoguchi, use every weapon at their disposal to get ahead in life. No shrinking violets, these women are every bit as tough and self-reliant as the men around them (if not more so).

 

Yokosuka was one of the major Japanese Naval Bases till the end of War II. Upon Japan's defeat, it was taken over by the U.S. Navy. Even after the occupation of the Allied Forces, the place remains as the U.S. Naval Base under the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty. When the U.S. fleet sailed in, the women on the street naturally livened up, and the wheeler-dealing gangsters even more maneuvered behind to skim the cream off. The film vividly depicts the small-time gang who get swung by shortsighted profits and the gang-wars.
  This is Director IMAMURA Shohei's fifth film, one of his early works. His usual bold presentation of the lower class people's way of living blossomed out brightly in this picture. No other films have ever captured such poignant view of the base. His unique methods such as the overhead shot of a toilet and the scene of the gangsters stamped and killed by a horde of hogs were much talked about.

Los subs en inglés para la versión de 2 CDs son infinitamente mejores que los de la versión en 1 CD (en inglés también). No me extraña que tuvieras problemas al traducirlos, los orginales son pésimos. De todas maneras, quitándole 2 segundos al CD2 y haciendo un joint con el CD1 en subtitleworkshop los subs encajan perfectamente con la versión de 1CD.
