review from : http://www.koroshiya.co.uk/watari.htmThis is a crazy film, nice 60’s special effects laden film which is all action from start to finish! Watari is about 9 or 10 I reckon, and he’s absolutely hard as nails! He fights for good with an axe on a rope and has a flute which he seems to play knowingly quite a bit… he can teleport, he can run really quickly, he can run up walls… man there is probably nothing this kid can’t do!Basic plot there are these 2 ninja clans fighting and killing each other, the leaders of both are in agreement to keep the ninja fighting for their own personal profit. Anyone who discovers this is sent on a mission to the castle where a group of different coloured assassins await to kill them.Basically It’s all just an excuse for fighting and watching people who have crazy special skills! There are some really amusing effects in this film, but also they are quite good considering these are mid 60’s effects! I must say I was pretty gobsmacked and giggling through the entire thing! When Watari runs really quick it’s most hilarious! At one stage Watari gets to fight a giant cat, there are a pair of fire spouting people who set themselves on fire with apparantly no ill effects! lol, lots of crazy stuff going on!The story is pretty cool, it’s enough plot to keep you interested in things. Nothing about Watari is ever explained and having never read the Manga I can’t say weather this is a good adaptation or not! Direction is nice and the acting all around is good enough! It has this most amusing theme where people seem to just repeat Watari over and over in various high pitched tunes.. I have found this to be quite the ear-worm!
¡Toma ya, otro sorpresón!Muchas gracias, OZN
