Winner of Best Picture at the 7th Asian Film Festival, Rear Entrance is a moving tale about a childless woman (Shanghai superstar Butterfly Woo in her triumphant screen comeback) who cares for an emotionally battered girl (future teen idol Wang Ai-ming). The drama made a star of the lovely Li Hsiang-chun (who plays the girl's mother), and demonstrates director Li Han-hsiang's mastery of emotional nuance in a genre quite different from his other masterpiece, the Chinese ghost story Enchanting Shadow.
