Homecoming. It’s one of the biggest parts of Chinese New Year, that day when everyone in the family (extended or immediate) comes together to celebrate the Lunar New Year, usually with copious amounts of food and the occasional karaoke session or two. It’s that potential for dysfunction and drama with a heaping of comedy that makes the dish called Homecoming, a heartwarming movie about a family and several peripheral individuals coming together to celebrate the reunion dinner.
A major highlight of the movie is that Jack Neo, who will be cross-dressing on the big screen again after eleven years since Liang Po Po The Movie back in 1999. The all-star cast includes Afdlin Shauki, Hong Kong actor Mark Lee, Rebecca Lim, and Ah Niu. Amidst all the comedy though, is a great family film.
