Winner of Best Film at the 1991 Daejong Awards, Kwak Ji Kyun's critically acclaimed Portrait Of The Days Of Youth revolves around a young man named Young Hoon, who is distraught when he discovers the startling truth about his first love Jung-nim. It seems she is carrying out an illicit affair with Young Hoon's teacher! Things get worse when he fails to gain entrance into the university he had hoped for, which forces Young Hoon to settle and attend a local college. He sees his friends die for ideologies. He meets beautiful Hae-yeon, a girl student from a rich family, whom he loves but cannot seem to get closer to. They break things off at a bourgeoisie party where he feels totally ostracized from. He begins to wander around, leaving behind friendships and love, while pining away for Jung-nim whom he had run into on the way home town. He lives in an inn in the country where he meets Miss Yoon and an unlucky intellectual. They travel together and soon realize certain truths about life which convinces them that life is worth living. Starring Jung Bo Suk, Lee Hye Sook, and Bae Jong Ok, with a screenplay by Jang Hyeon Su.
