A city slicker (Alan Tam) unwittingly becomes the subject of a psychological experiment, as a university study group creates an artificial romance in order to see whether "true love" will change his personality for the better. Jo Jo (Brigitte Lin) is the girl chosen to entice him, but things manage to go awry.Meanwhile, a genuine mutual attraction develops between the two. Realizing this, Jo Jo backs off and asks her fiancee, who has organized the experiment, to stop it. However, Alan has already fallen deeply in love with her and disrupts her wedding ceremony, begging her to run away with him instead.
