"Return Of The Dead" is a long-awaited sequel to renowned director Li Han-hsiang's first experiment in the horror genre: The Enchanting Shadow. However, "Return Of The Dead" takes a step further from being a sheer representation of classic Chinese literature to being a navigator in the often-neglected dark corners of human nature. The insertion of erotic scenes throughout the film is yet another reminder that indulgence in sensual pleasures is futile and detrimental.
