THE BLACK FALCON is the second film from Shaw Brothers in their James Bond spin-off series that began with THE GOLDEN BUDDHA (1966). Veteran actor Paul Chang Chung reprises his role as Bond’s “sworn brother” in Hong Kong. The film contains classic send-ups to the MGM franchise with spy gadgets, a SPECTRE-like organization, gun battles, vehicular stunts, and heavy doses of karate-styled fisticuffs with an oddball assortment of shady characters. While it possesses all the trappings of a great ’60s spy thriller, it’s unable to match the creativity or flair of Ian Fleming’s novels, upon which the Bond franchise was based.Novice star Jenny Hu and veteran co-star Margaret Tu Chuan join longtime matinee idol Paul Chang Chung in a battle against the notorious Black Falcon crime mob in Singapore. Together they face forgery, fire, and even poisoned needles to stop them.Watch for future famed director Wu Ma ("The Dead And The Deadly") and award-winning actor Ku Feng ("Avenging Eagles", "Peking Opera Blues") in supporting roles as the fists fly and the bodies fall.
